- Stocks up on food early. People stress out when they see a chance of snow, ice, or sleet and stock up on food in case they get stuck inside. People don’t know how long it will snow so people get massive amounts of food, milk, and toiletries.
It’s best to stock up early so that way you don’t leave the store empty handed. Make sure you get stuff like non perishable food/water, batteries, stuff to stay warm, and medications or first aid kits.
Sargent Ferral says, “Usually getting ahead of it early is the best part but if you wait to find your essentials like bread, milk, and eggs, stuff like that seems to fly off the shelves.”
- Keep your pipes from busting. You can keep you pipes safe by covering up your outdoor facets and keeping the cabinets used your sinks open. There are many ways to do so.
The most used method is putting a foam cover over them which you can find cheap at Wal-Mart and Home Depot. Other ways you can cover your outdoor facet by wrapping a towel around the facet and you can also use pool noodles.
- Stay off the road. If you dont have to go anywhere then dont go anywhere. If you drive a smaller car then you shouldn’t be out on the ice at all.
Instead of trying to break on ice instead just coast instead of trying to do anything. Don’t try to slam on your breaks because it wont help in snow or ice.
Sargent Ferral says, “Four wheel drive does not mean anything on snow or ice. All that does is get you out of a ditch when you end up in one.”
- Getting ice off your driveway. The easiest way to get ice off your drive way is by using salt. Get de-icing salt and throw it out on your driveway before it starts icing so it can slow down the ice.
You can even use table salt to slow down the icing.
