As you walk the halls currently, it is not uncommon to hear the trending words thrown out in practically every conversation. Often, trends off the internet last a few months and then start dwindling out of use.
The current trend is “six- seven ( 67)”. Many of our students have seen or heard of 67 in different ways like Parker Long mentioned that he heard of the trend “On TikTok” or Shari Witherspoon where she heard it from her son.
“I heard it from one of my students,“ Allison Earl said
Many speculate the origin of where the trend actually began. Any quick search on the history of 67 note use from a 2024 rap song.“Doot Doot ( 67)” by Skrilla. It supposedly gained viral status on TikTok where the “67 kid” was yelling out 67 to Charlotte Hornet’s Lemelo Ball who is in fact 6 ft 7 inches.
As this trend has lasted for several months, we also note that the current trend is still being used despite the usual ending of trends. It is debatable whether this trend will end.
As it continues in popularity, many have mixed feelings on how they feel about it overall.“It’s an internet trend that I like to troll my students with, because they do not like it when I do it to them,” Earl said.
“I mean, it was never really that funny, but it’s still amusing that they, I don’t know, they think it’s funny, It’s kind of old now,”Long said.
