Bella Luper, freshman and coEditor-in-chief of The Occurrence, has been named one of 13 winners for Best School Story by Headliners in Education.
Headliners in Education is a journalism education nonprofit based in Massachusetts. Their “Best of 2024” contest had hundreds of entries from 11 states and three countries from students ranging from kindergarten to college.
Luper’s feature story of school additions in “The new courtyard is here,” was selected as one of the best examples of school coverage. Luper is in her second year on BJHS Media’s staff.
“Bella is an example of what a good journalist should be: curious, tenacious and a strong problem-solver,” Meag Abo, BJHS Media adviser, said, “I’m very happy to see that recognized outside of the school.”
