Governor Sarah Huckabee-Sanders has passed hundreds of new laws since January. Many of them will impact students.
Act 621 will excuse any student that misses school to attend their parent/guardian while they vote.
Act 788 otherwise known as the Religious Viewpoint anti-discrimination Act will allow students to express their religious opinions in any of their work, like homework, artwork, or other assignments without being discriminated against.
Act 317 bans transgender students at public schools from using the restroom that matches their gender identity. Jason Hay, principal, says that the school will follow the law, but that if a student is uncomfortable with that, they will have access to a single stall bathroom.
Act 542 bans schools from requiring teachers to use a transgender student’s preferred pronoun without written permission from their parents or guardian.
The Learns Act allows teachers the minimum of $50,000 salary, also requires students not reading on grade-level by the third grade to be held back, and it makes stricter reading requirements for students because they want all students to succeed academically.
School choice Bill gives students the choice to access quality education, no matter where they live.
The School Choice Bill gives students the choice to choose the school district they attend, no matter where they live.
The school district is responding to the many laws.
“We are training teachers about laws. It won’t change day to day.” School attorney Jeremy Lasiter said.
Lasiter says the impact of the laws won’t be seen completely for a few years, but the goals of the school and district remain the same.
“Our main goal is to take care of kids.” Hay said.

I learned a lot about the changes she made and I appreciate her changes. The strongest part about his whole article is that they actual let the students choose for once. The only question i have about this article is what does she look like.

What I learned in this article is the new laws that discuss things that can impact students like preferred identity, religion and attendance. What I found the most interesting about the article is that absences can be excused when one’s parent or guardian is out to vote. The details I would say that are left out is that for the new laws that were passed, they should be put into more detail. My suggestion for a future article would be some laws that could be passed that can impact all American citizens.

That i can be excuse form school if my parents go to vote. That she passed 100 new laws that could affect students. Why did she pass so many knew laws in such a short time. To ask students how it affects them.

I learned a lot about her laws, and how influential they are to us. However it would be interesting to see in a future story about how some students are affected by these laws and how students feel about them, not just what they are.

I find it humorous with the new laws passed, they’re oddly specific about the voting one. Personally believe in better excuses.

I learned that a lot of her laws are about voting. I find the most interesting part about the different type of new laws she made. A detail that is left out is that what let these laws pass? To give more detail about each law.

Learned a lot about how the laws she has put into place. She seems to care about education, but some of the laws she has set in place seem to be unfair and to targeted. I found it very interesting that Mr. Hay has decided to allow someone who is uncomfortable using their gendered bathrooms to use a one stall restroom. I find it very admirable of him. I would like to see a little bit more of the laws she has put in place that are not school related. I want to see what changes she is making to the community, as well as the school. It was a very informational article, but I think it could use some input from either parents of students the laws are affecting, or opinions from the students themselves.

I personally have been complaining a lot about her because she changed a lot of things I don’t like. I feel like that’s what she’s mainly been doing ever since she came into office. I learned some new laws she recently passed, ones I didn’t know before. Maybe you can go into detail about some of the laws specifically or just talk about more laws that impact us.

I learned about the new laws that were placed and how they could affect people in our school. I find the one about the reading level to be more interesting because that could mean many people would held back just because they may have a small problem to read. I don’t think anything was left out for this article. I think for a next article it could be about other students behavior in and out of the classroom.
