Thanksgiving break in Bryant is a week long. Then, students come back for three weeks just to get off for Christmas Break for another two weeks. This makes no sense.
An idea was proposed in a survey for Thanksgiving to be off so Christmas Break can be three weeks long. This idea would end the awkward and arguably stressful three week gap between Thanksgiving and Christmas Break. However, only (blank)% of students agree with the idea.
Ayden Tucker, freshman, worries about losing the special time with his extended family.
“[The Tucker family has] such a big side of the family that we don’t spend time with my stepmom’s side of the family,” Tucker said. “They end up doing theirs a day before thanksgiving… or after.”
He isn’t the only one as Ivanna Flores, 8, finds long breaks boring. Her 17-year-old brother doesn’t help with the boredom.
Alex Caldwell, freshman, also agrees against the change.
“I’m not a huge fan of change, and this would be too big of one,” Caldwell said.
There is no easy way to fix the stress caused by this three week deadline while satisfying the students’ needs. What we can tell is a change is needed.
