Sydney Hageny, 8, is on The Occurrence staff. Hageny began her journalism journey on Bethel Middle School’s yearbook staff. 

“My brother was in it, and he told me I’d like it,” Hageny said.

She decided to continue journalism in Bryant Junior High School.

”I like hanging out with my friends when I do it, and it helps me to get over being shy,” Hageny said.

When work is done, Hageny loves hanging out with her mother by watching America’s Sweetheart together or going to get coffee at Scooters or Starbucks. Her favorite order is a Recee’s Blender.  

Even if her family isn’t home, Hageny will always have some company.

”I have two dogs: Birdie and Louie,” Hageny said.

Hagney hopes to gain some valuable life skills at the end of this year.

”I hope to be less shy and to be a better writer,” Hageny said.
