Berenice Diaz Soto, Newspaper Photography Editor- The Occurrence
Berenice Diaz Soto, freshman, is on The Occurrence staff as the photography editor.
“I had two choices for me: either art or being a photographer. Since I didn’t have any designs to post, I just put in pictures. That got me into [the staff],” Diaz Soto said.
After a day’s work, Diaz Soto likes to relax and read a good book.
”[I’m currently reading] a book called Jerk, California. It’s a YA [Young Adult] book. It’s just about a guy with tourettes,” Diaz Soto said.
Diaz Soto has five brothers, but she is the most close with her youngest half brother, Dorian, who is 7 and can get up to some childish antics.
”One time, he threw blueberries at the wall and he had to clean it up,” Diaz Soto said.
Despite being in ninth grade, this is Diaz Soto’s first year on staff.
“[I joined journalism] because I thought it would be good for me. I have a lot of free time, so I thought I’d be productive with it,” Diaz Soto said.
