1. Sleepy Hollow, 1999
The movie Sleepy Hollow–directed by Tim Burton, is a tale that follows newbie detective Constable Ichabod Crane as he is sent to the village called Sleepy Hollow, where he investigates the mysterious “Headless Horseman” who has been causing havoc across the community.
2. Coraline, 2009
Coraline is a classic stopmotion that most spooky fans are charmed by. A young and rebellious girl by the name of Coraline wishes for new parents. When she moves into a new house, she discovers a mysterious door that leads to an eerily “perfect” parallel universe; which could lead her to demise.
3. The Witches, 1990
This adaptation from the novel by Roald Dahl begins with 8-year-old Luke Eveshim vacationing with his grandmother. His grandmother warns him of witches lurking in the town who are set out to curse small children. Lukes parent’s die in a sudden car accident, making his grandmother his primary guardian and leaving him trapped in the haunted town.

1. Fanastic Mr. Fox, 2009
Award-winning director Wes Anderson presents this stop-motion comedy, which follows anti-hero Mr. Fox as he raids the neighboring farms in hope to turn his life to luxury. The angry men–Boggis, Bunce, and Bean–cause the community of burrowing critters to hide away from their attempts of revenge.
2. Friday Night Lights, 2004
This biopic starring Billy Bob Thornton and Tim McGraw is an autumnal sports drama based in a small, close-knit town in Texas which obsesses over the high school football team. When the star tailback gets seriously injured, the team–as well as the town–lose group morale and social problems begin to form.
